What’s new in ClipGuard
Latest version: 1.2.0
1.2.0
September 2026Latest
Four new Pro features, and a big round of fixes so every setting does exactly what it says.
New
- Encrypted backup & restorePRO — save your history and snippets to a password-protected file, and restore it on any Mac. Restoring works on every plan.
- Paste transformsPRO — right-click any item to paste it as pretty or minified JSON, Base64, URL-encoded or decoded text, or a SHA-256 hash. You can also decode JWTs, and trim, join, sort or de-duplicate lines.
- Text from imagesPRO — copy the text out of a screenshot, and find images by the words in them. It all happens on your Mac; nothing is uploaded.
- Pause & private sessionsPRO — pause recording for a few minutes or until you resume, or start a private session that’s kept in memory only and gone when it ends.
- Keyboard navigation — use the arrow keys, Return and Esc in the history window.
Improved
- Copies that password managers mark as private are never recorded, and Apple Passwords, 1Password, Bitwarden and LastPass are excluded by default.
- Clear History now asks first, and keeps your pinned and starred items.
- “Keep up to” and “Auto-delete after” now apply straight away, including to items you already had.
- Copied files are saved as files, so pasting them works in Finder and other apps.
- Turning off your passcode or Touch ID now needs you to confirm it’s you.
- Auto-lock now follows your real keyboard and mouse activity.
- You’ll see a clear message if your shortcut can’t be used, and system shortcuts like ⌘C can’t be picked by mistake.
- Launch at login now shows whether it’s really on.
- Deactivating a licence asks first, and you can remove it from a Mac even when you’re offline.
- Pro stays unlocked when your Mac is offline.
- ⌘, opens Settings, and clicking the Dock icon brings ClipGuard back.
Fixed
- The settings for capturing images, the capture sound and skipping password-like text now take effect.
- “Erase All ClipGuard Data” now removes everything and starts fresh.
- Unsaved snippet edits are no longer lost, and deleted snippets stay deleted.
- The {{cursor}} and {{clipboard}} placeholders now work reliably in snippets.
- Changing text case now pastes the changed text.
- Showing a QR code no longer closes the history window.
- Screen lock only locks ClipGuard when you’ve turned that option on.
- Clipboard contents are never written to system logs.
Heads-up: “Auto-delete after” (30 days by default) now really deletes. After updating, unpinned items older than your setting are removed — pinned and starred items are always kept. You can change this, or turn it off, in Settings → Clipboard.
